As requested by @
Ted, heres a little summary of my first six months with an #
electric #
motorcycle:
I have pretty much ridden the bike the whole winter apart from days with bad riding conditions.
As long as I kept the battery stored inside, there were no issues but in general if battery temp is under 8 degrees celcius the bike goes into some kind of limp mode (about 50km/h max speed) but can be restarted into normal operation when the battery has come to temperature after a few km of riding.
One day while riding in heavy rain, water managed to come into the battery connector.
There is no splash guard between the front wheel and the battery so I think either I need to extend the front fender or put some kind of splash guard in front of the battery.
But since this only happened once even though I have ridden the bike in rain quite a lot, I think this is not a big deal.
I had som trouble with the brakes seizing while riding a few times.
I haven't figured out the reason for that yet but I read it could be the brake fluid having accumulated water. Nevertheless, in my opinion the brakes are the weak spot on this bike. Formula brakes with plastic pistons - definitely needs to be upgraded.
Sunspension is soft but good as it is and for my style of riding (mostly commuting and inbetween some offroad trails or just goofing around).
Capacity/range is between 40-50km. Charging is quick enough even in normal charging mode. About 90-120min from 10%-100%.
I have read many people complain about the tires but in my opinion they are not bad.
Even in deep snow predictable and steady.
Only thing is that the bike becomes unstable/wobbly over 60km/h which I consider to be normal with knobby tires.
Max speed is 77km/h with the stock gear ratio.
What I do enjoy most is the stealthyness of this bike...(I mean it does make some sound but not so much that animals get scared or ppl get annoyed.) ..and the torque is just insane and a whole lot of fun!
Regarding maintenance:
So far I had to shift gearbox oil once (every 50 driving hours),
...and that's it.
Only upgrade I did so far was a LED headlight and worth it.
So all in all cheap to maintain.
I do not regret to have switched to electric as my daily driver - quite the opposite (but of course, long trips still happen on my combustion engine bike).
